Edmonton for the Weekend!

We left just after lunch on March 2nd for Edmonton with Kim and Chris for a big adventure in the new Grand Am (K&C's). Our first stop...Timmy's of course...

Chris was feeling "sex ay" so Kim labelled him with my new label maker.
Kimby drove for awhile then Chris took over so Kim & I could make licorice jewelrey.

The girls wanted to stop in Vegreville to see the big Easter Egg. Apparently the boys didn't agree. Due to this, I feel like my readers have been ripped off so I will try to accomodate.

Friday Night
We checked into the hotel which was just across the street from West Ed. Mall...how handy! Then we ate at Hooters. Yes, I said Hooters. See picture below. It was as classy as their sign is.

Saturday
The girls went SHOPPING and we shopped until we dropped! We started at 10:30am, only stopped for coffee and supper with the boys. We got back to the hotel at 9:20pm! We were exhausted. The boys went to the Lamb of Gob and Trivium show.

That was our big adventure.

Inanimate Objects of the World - ATTACK!!

Somedays, inaimate objects of the world attack me. Does this happen to you? Do you really stub your toe or is it the chair that attacks you? I mean - you've usually walked by that SAME place multiple times and never stubbed your toe so why that time? I bet it was the chair.

So for all the times inanimate objects attack me, I think I need to start taking preventative measures...
1 - I've got multiple paper cuts - maybe I should go Edward Scissorhands and cut that paper before it cuts me. I think work might start garnishing my paycheques for the amount of bandaids I use.
2 - Markers, pens and highlighters or even ink out of the plotter have issues with drawing on the paper and would much rather draw on my hands, arms or heck even face. Yes, ink on my face. How you ask - I have no idea. These things are sneaky in how they get on me. Sometimes I swear I don't even use a highlighter and yet - it's on me. Maybe I should only use pencils from now on.
3 - Shelves. The other day the back of my head was attacked by a bracket that was sticking out from a shelf. Smasho my head therefore creating a large egg on the back of my head. Now apparently I should wear a hard hat in the office - not just when I go out on site.

OK - enough entertaining you with my inanimate objects for now. (Even though that's not even scraping the top of the stories...those three are just from last week.)

:D

That kind of day?

So maybe it's just that kind of day...but here's an interesting blog for you.

When you think about how your life is right now, are you happy? Do you like where you are? Is this where you saw yourself when you thought about it years ago? If you are happy - that's great...but if you aren't - are you doing something about it? Things might have not gone exactly as planned but if you are happy with the way things turned out - does it matter?

Perhaps this is something that you start to think about once you get a little older. I know I'm not "old" but I'm not a "youngin'" anymore either. Year 28 is almost knocking on my door! 28? Are you kidding me? James and I have been together for almost 14 years now. I'll be 28 in May and in June, 14 years of my life have been spent with the love of my life and I wouldn't change one day of it. I was extremely lucky to find that boy. I suppose we didn't have a typical dating and fall in love story but it sure worked for us. I think I'm more in love with James now than I was 10 years ago. Is that how it's supposed to work?

There are life stresses everywhere no matter what you do. With people, work or things that just happen. Some people deal better with stress than others. I have a very patient husband and this helps when I get overwhelmed. Sometimes I just don't know what to do and he helps calm me down. I am happy in life - but is this the happiest I can be? Not that I'm saying it is all about me but in your life don't you think that you should be happy? Life is short and why should you spend any of that time being miserable?

Feel free to be confused by my little blog...just needed to get it out.

New Hair Cut!

I ventured out this evening in the bitter cold - oh it's only -28c with a -37c windchill! (that's -18F with a -34F windchill) Oh you know you all want to come to Saskatchewan for a visit or move back here and if you are still here - aren't you glad? I mean who wants to move to Calgary (where it was +10c the other day...). I truly think that by some accident I was born in the wrong climate. Why couldn't those scandinavians have migrated to a warm part of the world???

OK so really I'm not complaining. I have a wonderful life with my husband where our parents raised us well and to be responsible people. We have worked extremely hard for where we are and have come a long way - including owning our own house (ok - maybe the bank still owns most of it...) but we are extremly fortunate to be where we are and in this house - I CAN BE WARM!

So I bet you are wondering why this blog was titled "New Hair Cut". Oh come on - I know you are curious...

There it is - the new do.
Later dudes - time to work.

The Great Blizzard of 2007 (oh no - it's only January 10th)

So right now Saskatoon and surrounding areas are currently in a blizzard. Not just a little snow - I'm talking about a full on blizzard. I couldn't see down the street even. After lunch Dawn at work came around telling people they could go home if they felt like they should.

This is what it looked like when we left work about 1:45pm this afternoon. In the second picture you can't even tell we are at the bottom of the bridge. In the third picture - we are on the bridge! The fourth pictures shows all the kids waiting to be picked up outside of Walter Murray School.

As of 3:00 today, the City of Saskatoon had closed roads IN the city such as Circle Drive bridge & Circle drive between Millar (north end) and College (by the uni). A ton of other roads were shut down - most of them I think were by open areas and areas by fields due to the snow blowing (67km/hr winds). Needless to say all the highways have been closed as well.

As of 5:00 today, more roads were closed in the city. I doubt we can get our car out of the driveway. Guess we'll see in the morning if I can get to work or not.

When I got home, I decided to bundle up and maybe shovel a bit so James could get into the driveway when he got home. The snow was light and fluffy but talk about a TON of it. Mostly I think I was just playing in the snow (but I really did do some shovelling).

Look at all that snow and blowing - oh I even built a snowman - no not the newfie, he was helping me carry my stuff into the house. I named my little snowman Max but those lips look pretty feminine so perhaps we will call it Maxine. Sadly, Maxine can not be seen anymore as she is COMPLETELY covered up by all the snow that has continued to fall and blow across our yard. Take care everyone - and keep warm!

Today's Happenings

So often I wonder how some days can just be so crazy and rediculous and others - well, ok, they all seem to be crazy and rediculous but some days I wonder if the only human contact some people get is while they are in the office. Ever think that?

Getting a Cup of Coffee
Sounds simple right? That's all I wanted to do - get a cup of coffee. I wasn't even going out to get a cup of coffee. I walked over to the office coffee machine, took a cup out of the cupboard and proceeded to fill my cup. I see a guy making decaf - let's call him...Phil. As Phil makes his decaf I hear from another person "so what IS the purpose of decaf anyway?" Beats me, I thought...the only reason I savour the taste is to know it will kick in some sort of energy boost that I left back in the 80's somewhere. And this is when it happened - a comment from the decaf guy...Phil. He says something like "I don't know why decaf - I suppose it's like using birth control when you are having sex." I think I paused for say...half a second and added, "you don't want to know how many kids if..." nevermind. I just went back to my desk with my coffee.

My Brother-in-law
So most of you know my brother in law, Chris. Funny guy, entertaining and I've even heard someone call him sex-ay (not saying who). So today as we chatted, he informed me that I should really talk to my sister about her taste in music. I thought - that girl has always been into country (blah). But Chris informed me that he found my sister downloading songs. He tells me "I was ok with country, I'll let that slide, but last night I found her downloading Nelly (the rapper, not Furtado) and Eminem. I'm scared Sherry. What if she starts cookin' nothing but fried chicken everynight and starts wearing nothing but track suits" Oh that boy slays me - I guess I'll have to have a chat with Kim and see what she thinks. I'll make sure she hasn't stocked their freezer with chicken parts ready to fry up and when we go shopping, I'll be sure to take her to non tracksuit selling stores. :D

So Tired from Work

Think if I count up all of my overtime hours that can count towards time put in before retirement? I've got to be getting close...

Back to work I go...well I guess I brought the files with me so into the home office I go to work (again). So sorry to all of you that I haven't talked to - just been too busy with work stuff but as noted above, I'm probably soon close to retirement so I will visit with you then.

Pretty Appliances

What? You want to SEE what my new appliances look like? OK...a warning to you they are pretty.

Waterline to be connected soon for the fridge then we will have cold
filtered water and an icemaker!

Salsa Time

So last night was salsa cooking and canning night. Ooooh what fun! Lots of work but oooh it is so going to be good! Thanks to Carol & Grant for a bunch of the veggies etc! Your jars are coming.

Getting the jars ready to go...

That's one big pot of salsa (on the new stove). Of course I took the picture too close so you can't SEE the new stove...

Oh don't those look good?

Sherry Theories...

Today my chair kept rolling to the right. I have a few theories in why it was doing this:
1 - the floor under my office chair is sloped
2 - the right side of my body is heavier than the left
3 - isn't that the way the earth spins - it must be pulling me that way

Another thought:
Ever go into certain stores in the mall and it's like you are completely invisible? What's the big idea? Why does this happen to me? Why can I go into a store and have the staff go out of their way to say hello to other shoppers only to ignore me. Is it because I look young? Because I look like I don't really need anything or I'm not going to spend money there? Well guess what - if you don't talk to me - I'm not buying stuff in your store! So there!

Tonight James and I chopped and chopped up veggies for making salsa! Cooking and canning it comes tomorrow night.
